I particularly use a Engage, Explain, Explore and Evaluate method of teaching
I first engage my students in the topic, find out what they understand by the topic and correct their background knowledge if need be
Then I move into the topic in detail, explaining what it entails while I make reference to their background knowledge making use of simple English.
I explore their knowledge of the new introduced topic to find out if they did understood the topic and give them room to ask what their confusions might be
finally I evaluate their knowledge through class activities and home works.
The use of this method as being very productive through my years of experience and practice as my students tend to have a better understanding and don't necessarily have to cram the information or knowledge of the topic. I have had the opportunity to tutor 800 students in an academic term and I used different method but this seems to be the most productive of them, although its time consuming but the students only have to scheme through their notes and do not have to do a thorough reading afterwards.
Also I encourage my students to have a "new word" note as this will enable them make a good use of the language.
