My teaching experiences spans all ages and levels for almost twenty years; from Baby Genius to BECS exam classes, from IELTS preparation classes to teens. I have taught in institutions and privately in Australia, Greece, Russia and am currently based between Germany/Jordan.
My extensive teaching experience includes a variety of subjects in English, especially focusing on teens and adults for Academic and Business English. Currently, I am giving several classes on Academic English (presentations and writing), Humanities, Liberal Arts and Regional Studies at TU Dresden. I also participate in and lead assessments for academic and business oral examinations at TU Dresden every semester for the Sprachschule, and recently I have been given the extra responsibility to create a textbook for our Medical English classes.
I have also taught Business English and Cross-Cultural Communication at SRH Dresden School of Management and IU Dresden, so I definitely have the practical background to train and coach students for real-life contexts. For example, job interviews, business meetings, negotiations, exhibitions, podcasts, etc. I am also passionate about teaching writing skills (including academic and creative writing) and reading skills, having taught students how to critically read and write abstracts, essays, reports, and other texts over a ten-year period.
I also occasionally give lectures on Australian literature for the Regional Studies department at TU Dresden, as well as presenting various papers at conferences on literature and poetry.
In addition to my professional experience, I completed my PGCE equivalent of 120 teaching hours and modules as a part of my MPhil. I found it challenging, as it not only made me improve upon skills I had, but made me more aware of the mechanics of teaching. In addition, I also have TEFL certification, and have a BA in English, an MA in Russian, a MPhil in Philosophy and I am currently undertaking my PhD in English at the University of Sydney (online).
Having a hands-on and can-do approach means that I am able to customize my courses for the subject and students at hand. In conjunction with the university classes I teach, I have many private students, and flexibility, adaptability as well as critical thinking, help make my classroom an enjoyable learning environment. My great verbal and written communication skills are also a key asset when dealing with students in order to achieve the desired results with them.
I am confident that my passion for teaching combined with my multi-tasking skills in the classroom (including digital and performative skills) make me an excellent candidate for the position: bringing expertise, flair and knowledge to the classroom.
