At the core of my teaching lies the student's ultimate goal. Your purpose of learning English shapes and individualises every lesson. This could be to travel to another country as a tourist, to prepare for a job interview, to receive academic support or to immigrate to an English-speaking country for any reason. It could even be as specific as understanding philosophical topics in English and being able to express your own opinions in a written or spoken format. Depending on the goal, the focused skills and topics may vary. In most cases, communication is the basis of any interaction and therefore takes centre stage.
Based on why you learn English, a typical lesson may include speaking activities, writing techniques and exercises, important vocabulary and strategies to learn vocabulary faster, pronunciation exercises, or grammar teachings. If you prepare for an exam or have a business-related goal, then these will be addressed by specific activities and practice exercises. There will be many kinds of assessment tools in my lessons to check where your learning is at and how you can improve it. You will be directed to various resources and online tools that will help you to be an independent learner and take control of your own learning journey. Autonomy is a very important skill to master in learning a language.
I have a Bachelor in English Language Teaching and I completed my Master’s degree in Language Assessment at Cambridge University. This educational background gives me an advantage in understanding the linguistic, psychological and emotional factors that affect language learning process, and I have a wide repertoire of teaching and assessing methods that will be beneficial for my students. As a teacher, I aim to foster the learning process of my students by being encouraging, supporting, patient and understanding. I notice individual differences and listen to feedback from students to improve the quality of my lessons.
