Throughout my Bachelors, I was both a private tutor and a University tutor (Teacher's Assistant) in the field of Macroeconomics, I also taught Philosophy, History, and English. I did this for more than 5 years. Most of the feedback I have received from my students has been very positive due to my methods of transferring "knowledge as a system" and learning as an enjoyment.
Besides being a top-performing student (I got 1st position in the Colombian National State Exam for High School Leavers in one of the randomized groups of 1000 students, making me top 0.1% in the country. I also graduated as Cum Laude in my Business Administration Bachelors), I have 7 years of working experience in Multinational companies where English is the official working language. I therefore have a wide experience with both Academic and Business English in competitive spheres.
This I add to my ongoing Masters in Philosophy and Economics, where I am furthering my experience with Academic English to new, more complex levels.
I offer a practical way of learning through the use of analogy, example, and all carried via conversation. I try to teach grammar as "logic" (the things that approach more to common sense in the way in which we would grasp it).
I believe that if people understand causes of things (the "why", not merely the "what") they can attain a much more solid understanding of languages and concepts. I focus on trying to get to the causes of things in a systemic way, but doing it fun!
I add a very dynamic flavor to classes, using examples, images, music, abstract notions, and games, to make it an enjoyment, and making the mind of students be at ease when it comes to learning. Feelings of stress, excessive amount of work, and a cold and distant atmosphere are things I utterly avoid.
In my experience, when people are emotionally connected to the teacher, they also emotionally connect to what is been taught, allowing the 'hard' components of the subject enter their mind in an easier way. That is why I try to connect particularly with each student in a way appealing to them in this manner.
